Quick installation of ddclient for all-inkl dynamic DDNS Service
If you got a Linux VM running in your home or small business network and your Websites are hosted at a provider like all-inkl.com, then you are also very likely in need of a good DDNS Client.
Previously, inadyn used to be the recommendation, but there is something far more stable and easier to use.
apt-get install ddclient
Follow the wizard… and if necessary edit the configuration File:
–> nano /etc/ddclient.conf# Configuration file for ddclient generated by debconf # # /etc/ddclient.conf daemon=300 protocol=dyndns2 use=web, web=checkip.dyndns.org/ server=dyndns.kasserver.com/ login=dyn0123456, password='verysecurepassword' myddns.beyondpackets.net
*Please note the “/” after dyndns.kasserver.com!
If you want to update multiple domains… -> easy:
# Configuration file for ddclient generated by debconf # /etc/ddclient.conf daemon=300 protocol=dyndns2 use=web, web=checkip.dyndns.org/ server=dyndns.kasserver.com/ login=dyn0123456-1, password='verysecurepassword-1' myddns-1.beyondpackets.net login=dyn0123456-2, password='verysecurepassword-2' myddns-2.beyondpackets.net
… And thats it, ddclient runs as a deamon, so no need to setup a cronjob or script to start after a reload of the server.
Verify that it works by either checking your “kas” (all-inkl online portal) history or run ddclient in debug/verbose/noquiet mode:
ddclient -daemon=0 -debug -verbose -noquiet
